We are pleased to invite you to a 2-day hands-on BESA software workshop Wednesday and Thursday, April 16-17, 2008 at Microtek San Francisco, hosted by Cortech Solutions.  The workshop, to be given by Karsten Hoechstetter of Megis, GmbH, will emphasize practical details for using effectively the new features of BESA 5.2.  The schedule is described in greater detail in the program linked from the menu at left.

The workshop will provide an introduction to the BESA program, including a presentation of the features of the new BESA version 5.2. Hands-on sessions are combined with demonstrations and explanatory introductory talks.  Topics will include:

  • An introduction to the concepts of source analysis

  • Data preprocessing: Averaging, artifact rejection, traditional peak analysis

  • Strategies for source analysis

  • Combination of EEG/MEG and (f)MRI

  • Source montages

  • Time-frequency analysis and source coherence

  • New imaging tools: multiple source beamformer and multiple source probe scan

  • New batch scripting options

  • Artifact correction

  • Additional topics: automatic pattern detection, correlation analysis, FFT, DSA, …

Who Should Attend

The workshop is intended for both new and experienced BESA users, as well as potential future users. 

Format

The workshop consists of lectures, software demos, discussion and labs.  Please complete the Pre-Workshop Questionnaire by clicking the link at left to let us know what you would like to learn about in the workshop.

Air Travel to San Francisco

Airfare, hotel and other travel expenses are not included in the registration fee, so attendees should make their own travel arrangements. 

Venue

The workshop will be held at Microtek San Francisco at 333 Bush St. Suite 1200 in the Financial District of Downtown close to the Embarcadero, Union Square, and Moscone Center Convention area. Transportation to the facility is easy with the BART station on the corner and hotels within walking distance. The 12,800 square foot learning center offers 3 meeting rooms and 9 computer labs with internet access provided by T1 and DSL lines. Wireless internet is provided for the students' convenience along with high speed email workstations and phone stations.

Hotel Accommodations

Those who will also attend CNS will probably prefer to extend their stay at the hotel they have selected for CNS and travel by taxi or subway to Microtek.  Those attending only the BESA workshop should see the hotel recommendations on the Microtek San Francisco site.  

Cost and Registration

The cost of the workshop is $300 per person to help defray expenses.  To register for the workshop, please visit the registration form.
