EMSE Suite

EEG/MEG analysis, source estimation, visualization and multimodal neuroimaging software

EMSE Suite is a superb, modular solution for the full range of EEG / MEG and multimodal neuroimaging applications, and the capabilities of the software lend themselves to analysis of ECG / BSPM data as well.  EMSE Suite includes a set of powerful tools for source localization and combination of biosignal results with other imaging modalities, such as MRI, CT, fMRI and PET.  EMSE's modular architecture allows modules to operate independently or as a tightly-integrated suite.

Highlights

  • Source estimation enhancements such as beamformers, sLoreta, local estimators and source estimation from power spectral density (PSD) data
  • Usability improvements like more toolbar buttons, better axis labels, improved copy-to-clipboard functionality, autoload default electrode locations from BioSemi & EGI, enhanced time series display, including multi-channel overlays, and improved scale display for time series data
  • Improved file readers for 3D Dicom & MINC (MRI), CTS (MEG), InStep (EEG), and Miraclink (MCG)
  • Enhancements for display & analysis of MEG and joint EEG/MEG datasets, Time-frequency enhancements such as time-frequency coherence in signal space or source space & optional scale frame for time-frequency display
  • More control for tomographic source estimator display with MRI overlay
  • New ocular artifact correction tools such as one-button ocular artifact filter for EEG & linear regression ocular artifact reduction using an EOG channel
  • ICA notch filter
  • Trimmed summary statistics (mean, standard deviation) and outlier rejection (in time and frequency domains)
  • Source analysis on wavelet data
  • Grand average/linear merge for time series and wavelet time-frequency data
  • Enhanced randomization statistical hypothesis testing in both signal space and source space
  • Spatial PCA with varimax rotation
  • Support for MEG source estimation
  • Repeated surface smoothing capability
  • Shrink wrap surfaces to a region
  • Morphological operations on image processing regions

EMSE modules

EMSE modules can be licensed individually or in bundles with capabilities tailored to specific requirements. The Data Editor module alone has many of the features a typical EEG/ERP laboratory would need for signal averaging, time-frequency analysis and statistics. For 3D visualization, add the Visualizer module. To perform source estimation and visualize the results in 3D, the Basic Source Estimation bundle, including Data Editor, Source Estimator and Visualizer is recommended.

Publications

Scholarly articles, book chapters and presentations by the EMSE development team, their collaborators and end-users of the software.  We do not maintain PDF copies of these articles here, but you may find some of them on line elsewhere.
