(This workshop is fully booked as of April 16, 2007.  If you would like to be placed on a waiting list for this meeting in case we have cancellations, please visit the waiting list button at left.)

Hosted by Dr. Caroline Palmer of McGill University

Montréal, Canada

We are pleased to invite you to a 2-day hands-on BESA software workshop Monday and Tuesday, May 14-15, 2007 at McGill University.  The workshop, to be given by Karsten Hoechstetter of Megis, GmbH, will emphasize practical details for using effectively the new features of BESA 5.1.8.

The schedule is described in greater detail in the program to which a link is posted at the left side of the page.

The workshop will provide an introduction to the BESA program, including a presentation of the features of the new BESA version 5.1.8. Hands-on sessions are combined with demonstrations and explanatory introductory talks.  Topics will include:

  • An introduction to the concepts of source analysis

  • Data preprocessing: Averaging, artifact rejection, traditional peak analysis

  • Strategies for source analysis

  • Combination of EEG/MEG and (f)MRI

  • Source montages

  • Time-frequency analysis and source coherence

  • New imaging tools: multiple source beamformer and multiple source probe scan

  • New batch scripting options in BESA 5.1

  • Artifact correction

  • Additional topics: automatic pattern detection, correlation analysis, FFT, DSA, …

Who Should Attend

The workshop is intended for both new and experienced BESA users, as well as potential future users.

Format

The workshop consists of lectures, software demos, discussion and labs.  Please complete the Pre-Workshop Questionnaire by clicking the link at left to let us know what you would like to learn about in the workshop.

Air Travel

Airfare, hotel and other travel expenses are not included in the registration fee, so attendees should make their own travel arrangements.

Venue

The workshop will be held on the McGill University campus, one block north of Sherbrooke Ave (click here for a map):

3070 Trottier Building

3630 University Street

Montreal, QC

In addition, there is a separate room reserved nearby for food and drinks.  Also, there is a cafe in the building.

Hotel Accommodations

If you will be traveling from out of town, book a hotel room early to avoid the high rates and limited choices you might encounter in Montréal in the spring.  One reasonably priced and conveniently located hotel option to consider is the Sheraton Fourpoints on rue Sherbrooke.

Cost and Registration

The cost of the workshop is US$300 per person for two days to help defray expenses.  Advance registration is strongly recommended, since space is limited.  This workshop is fully booked as of April 16, 2007.  If you would like to be placed on a waiting list for this meeting in case we have cancellations, please visit the waiting list button at the top left side of this page.

This will be a valuable opportunity, both to learn about the software, and to meet with other BESA users, as well as Megis and Cortech Solutions staff.  We hope that you will be there!
