BESA® utilizes a license scheme based on a physical piece of hardware that plugs into a USB port, know as a “hardlock”, sometimes also known as a “dongle”.  The current version of the hardlock scheme works only with what is known as a “network hadlock”, meaning that one or more encoded license can be shared across the local area netowork for several workstations to access the software (concurrent users limited by the number of licenses encoded in the hardlock).
